This disease is fairly common in cats and CANNOT be spread by petting your cat. The parasite Toxoplasma gondii can be spread by handling an infected catsβ feces. Simple solution... wear gloves when you scoop your catβs litter box or wash your hands after scooping their litter box. If you are pregnant, itβs a good idea to have someone else scoop the litter box. After the year we have had, I think we ALL know how to wash our hands and wear gloves. β£οΈ Outdoor cats are more likely to be infected because they eat animals containing the parasite. Hey, look at that, ANOTHER good reason to keep your cats inside. Long story short, you donβt have to get rid of your cat to avoid toxoplasmosis. Tipping is the process of removing a small amount of the left ear. This is done during the spay/neuter operation under anesthesia and does not harm the cat. This shows that it has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and returned to its original location outside. This is done to prevent that same cat from being trapped, transported to the vet, put under anesthesia, and only then discovering that the cat is already fixed. This saves our dedicated TNR people lots of time, and is less stressful for our fixed Community Cats. π But sometimes, you will see an ear tipped cat IN SOMEONESβ HOME!!! How is this possible???? Donβt they know they have a wild beast in their midst???!!! There is one main reason why ear tipped cats are not always feral. A formerly owned house cat was abandoned, no owner found, and has become feral just to survive on the mean streets. This cat was then trapped, fixed, and the people helping this cat found out the cat was suitable to live indoors again. They may always be shy, but are not aggressive towards people. We at Saved By Zade know a few cats like this, and most of us own a few. ... See more View on facebook April 16, 2021 πππππππππππππππ HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARA!
