When attempting to help a cat in need, Saved by Zade will always advocate to safely try TNVR: trap, neuter, vaccinate, and return! There are many roadblocks that may make this a less-than-easy process, especially if it’s your first time saving a cat. If you see a kitty in an extreme situation and fear for their life, here are some things to remember.
First of all: THANK you for paying attention and for caring!
Second: Never risk your own life to save an animal.
Third: If the animal is a victim of abuse, do not underestimate the dangers of getting involved without a professional.
Fourth: If you feel unsure and want to act fast, reach out to a Saved by Zade volunteer who can help steer you in the right direction!

Calling the police may sometimes be the best move when trying to help a cat in need. We love creating a community of activists, but please involve a professional and call 911 IF:
- You are in a life-and-death situation
- You witness an animal being abused
- You find a living condition for a cat that also creates a hazard to a human
- Traffic flow is being affected
- A cat appears to be infected and acting dangerously
